Overview

SolarSync Monitor is a real-time dashboard for solar energy systems. It tracks energy production, consumption, charging, and efficiency, helping owners and operators understand exactly how their system is performing.

The project focused on making technical energy data feel immediate and understandable, from live panel conditions to long-term consumption patterns.

02

Initial condition

Solar owners often rely on basic inverter apps that show numbers without context. It is hard to tell whether the system is performing well, how weather affects output, or where energy is being consumed.

The dashboard needed to turn raw readings into clear signals: production, usage, efficiency, and anything that needs attention.

03

Design intent

  • Show live production and conditions the moment the dashboard opens
  • Make efficiency and performance easy to judge
  • Visualise consumption over time in a clear, comparable way
  • Surface system activity and alerts without clutter
  • Create a bold, energetic identity for clean-tech
04

Approach

  1. 01

    Energy Data Audit

Identifying the readings that matter most to owners: output, usage, charge, and efficiency.

  2. 02

    Live Conditions

Pairing weather and panel imagery with live stats so output always has context.

  3. 03

    Performance Views

Designing total charging, power usage, and efficiency modules that update in real time.

  4. 04

    Consumption Analytics

Building bar charts and history views that compare usage across days and devices.

  5. 05

    Mobile Companion

Condensing the key readings into a mobile view for checking the system anywhere.

05

Visual language

The visual language is dark, charged, and optimistic.

A near-black interface lets a vivid lime-green accent read as energy, used for production, active states, and key figures.

Solar panel photography grounds the data in the physical system it describes.

06

User experience

The experience moves from “how is it doing now” to “how has it been doing”.

The home view greets the user with essential stats, live conditions, and performance monitoring side by side.

Power consumption breaks usage down over time, with filters for period and device.

Activity logs and charge history make changes in the system traceable without technical knowledge.

07

Deliverables

  • Energy overview dashboard
  • Live conditions module
  • Performance monitoring panel
  • Total charging and power usage widgets
  • Power consumption analytics
  • Charge history view
  • Activity log
  • Mobile dashboard
  • Dark UI component library

Key design moves

Green Means Energy

The lime accent is reserved for production and efficiency, so the eye finds energy data first.

Context Beside Numbers

Live panel and weather imagery sit next to the figures they explain.

Comparable History

Consistent bar charts make one day easy to compare with the next.

Readable for Owners

Technical readings are named and grouped in plain language, not inverter jargon.

09

Outcome

SolarSync Monitor turns solar performance into a clear, live picture.

The dashboard helps owners optimise their system with confidence, and is structured to grow with batteries, EV charging, and multi-site setups.
