Overview

Nylon is a music streaming platform developed for users who want to discover artists, manage playlists, browse songs, and control playback from one dark, focused interface. The work centered on creating a clear listening experience with strong navigation, playlist depth, artist context, and continuous player access.

02

Initial condition

Music platforms can become visually crowded when discovery, playlists, artist data, playback controls, and social activity are shown together. Nylon needed a more controlled interface where music browsing, playlist interaction, and player functions could remain clear, accessible, and visually consistent.

03

Design intent

  • Create a dark and immersive listening interface
  • Make music discovery easy to browse and scan
  • Keep playback controls visible across the platform
  • Organize playlists, artists, and recommendations clearly
  • Use orange accents to guide interaction and active states
04

Approach

  1. 01

    Research

Understanding how users search for songs, move between playlists, follow artists, and keep music playing while browsing.

  2. 02

    Direction

Defining a dark music interface with strong contrast, soft card layouts, and orange highlights for active actions.

  3. 03

    System

Developing login screens, navigation sidebar, browse pages, playlist pages, song lists, artist panels, profile dropdowns, and the fixed music player.

  4. 04

    Application

Extending the system across login, home, browse, playlist, artist detail, player bar, side panels, and recommendation sections.

  5. 05

    Refinement

Adjusting spacing, card rhythm, hierarchy, icon placement, player visibility, and content density for a smoother listening experience.

05

Visual language

The visual language is built on deep black backgrounds, muted grey panels, rounded music cards, white typography, and bright orange interaction points. Album covers and artist images add visual energy, while the overall system stays calm, structured, and easy to navigate.

Key design moves

Persistent Music Control

The player remains fixed at the bottom, allowing users to control playback without leaving their current browsing flow.

Clear Discovery Structure

Recent searches, special lists, trending songs, and artist cards are organized into readable sections that support fast browsing.

Playlist Depth

Playlist pages combine artwork, track lists, artist data, and playback actions without overwhelming the screen.

Artist Context Panel

The right-side artist panel gives users more context while keeping the main playlist view active.

Orange Interaction System

Orange highlights define active states, playback progress, selected navigation, and key calls to action.

08

Outcome

The final system gave Nylon a focused music platform experience built around discovery, playback, playlists, and artist exploration. The interface feels immersive, easy to scan, and consistent across its main screens, with strong player access and a clear visual identity.

A strong music interface keeps discovery, listening, and control connected in one continuous experience.
